01/02/2010 Girls U13 / U15 Avon League reports
The Yate U15 and U13 girls were back in Avon League action this week – for the U13s, the A Team had already qualified for the Finals, along with Chippenham A, who just pipped Yate B for the second position in the Finals. This week’s matches were all friendlies, and therefore the Yate A, B and C teams were shuffled around to give the younger players a good experience of playing with the older players. Good performances from all the players, with special mentions to Beth Northeast from Yate C, Megan Long from Yate B, and Poppy Thompson from Yate A.

The Yate U15 A team were back to their winning ways this week and had two great wins beating Redland B 8 - 0 with 5 goals from an in form Amy Sweet and also from Maria Jones, Ellie Diamond and Alice Kennedy. In their second match they beat Yate B 4 - 0 with two goals each from Amy Sweet and Pippa Barnes. The whole team performed really well but player of the day went to Alice Kennedy for her outstanding play.

Yate B were also successful in their first game against Redland B winning 3 - 0. Amongst the goal scorers were Florrie Eccleson and Daisy Tucker. Although the B`s lost to the A team in their second match 4 - 0 they didn’t give up and battled really hard to the end of the game.  Imogen Lydford one of the U13 goalkeepers made her debut in goal for Yate B and played brilliantly making several great saves. Player of the day went to Holly Constable who defended brilliantly throughout the afternoon.
