Yate travelled to Chippenham for the latest fixture and put in a topsy turvey performance. They started poorly, giving the ball away too much with certain players trying to dribble too much and Yate were indebted to Joe Avis for a few good saves in the first quarter of an hour. Against the run of play, Yate went ahead through a fine low strike from Dominic Avis who had plenty of time at the top of the 'D' to place his shot. Shortly after, Matt Child found Matt Bethell in space on the right and his pass across the goal found Tom Child waiting at the back post for a slap in from a few yards.

Despite this, Chippenham looked dangerous on the counter-attack and pulled a goal back shortly after. The hosts came out of the blocks quickly after the break and desevedly added a further two goals. Rob Child came back on as sweeper to steady the ship and rally the troops and the second half saw a much better defensive performance, with Rob Hazelwood, Wiggy, Ian Redfearn and Josh ullum all putting in solid performances.

Dom Avis and Matt Child started to get hold of the midfield and were threading balls through to the forwards Pete Jenkins and Jordan Reed, who made excellent runs to find some space. However, it was Wiggy - doing his impression of a bull from Pamplona - who provided a decisive pass to Bethell who scored on the reverse to equalize. This shifted the balance of play and Yate added two more goals with Avis waltzing through the hosts defence to score and the lively Jenkins adding the 5th.

Chippenham fought back to reduce the eficit to one and leave Yate with a tricky final 5 minutes but they got hold of the ball and passed it around which led to Bethell scoring his second of the night and putting Yate out of reach.

Everyone did well but the man of the hour was Wiggy - our very own Bull from Pamplona - with his rampaging runs from right back which made the marauding Brazilian and 3 time World Cup finalist Cafu look positively cautious. 9 man-of-the-match votes tells its own story so well done to him.

Thanks to everyone who travelled to Chippenham on a Friday evening, our next fixture is at Clevedon School on tuesday.
